Elli Cares is on a mission to help older adults, especially those living with dementia or cognitive challenges, to maintain independence, wellbeing, and confidence. Their app provides AI-driven tools for both users and their caregivers, giving families peace of mind.
Founded by Angela Edwards, Elli Cares began as a way to help people with early and mid-stage dementia live independently for as long as possible. The app now reaches users in over 40 countries and has attracted support from the Selwyn Foundation, Callaghan Innovation, and the Roddenberry Foundation. Grants (including the Startup Dunedin Microgrants programme) and partnerships have helped the team expand features like safe zones, behavioural monitoring, and AI-driven cognitive exercises.
Elli Cares is growing rapidly, with new research-backed tools in development to help all seniors strengthen cognitive health through adaptive games and personalised engagement. The team works with Dementia New Zealand, universities across New Zealand, and international research institutes to ensure the app is evidence-based and globally relevant.
This is just the beginning for Elli Cares – we can’t wait to see how they grow, as their potential for impact in the healthcare industry is massive.
