Later in life start-ups are on the rise – and statistically more likely to succeed.

Forget the myth that it’s the young and tech savvy leading the way with new businesses. Here in New Zealand, many people over 50 are doing life and work in different ways. There is a significant growth in senior entrepreneurship as a legitimate pathway. Globally, seniors are the fastest growing segment of entrepreneurship!

 In the USA the highest rate of business startup activity is amongst people aged from 55 to 64. In Australia, over one third of new businesses are led by people 55+.

Studies and resources on older people in the workforce & starting businesses over 50

Geoff Pearman was instrumental in a Massey University research project on senior entrepreneurship, and the creation of a dedicated website with evidence-based information and resources supporting older people to engage in the workforce as employees or business start-ups.
